Payment and Insurance

Private-pay care today. Broader access is our next step.

Wema Behavioral Health currently welcomes private-pay patients. We are not yet in network with commercial insurance, Medicare, or MassHealth plans.

We are preparing for future insurance participation and will update this page only after contracting, credentialing, and an official network effective date are complete.

Current Payment Status

Private pay only

Wema is not currently an in-network provider with any insurance plan. Our team will explain current visit fees and payment expectations before an appointment is scheduled.

Private-Pay Care

Clear information before you schedule.

Private pay allows care to begin without waiting for Wema’s insurance credentialing process to be completed.

Before scheduling, our team will explain the current fee for the requested service and answer payment-related questions.

Choosing private pay does not guarantee that an insurance company will reimburse you now or later.

Out-of-Network Benefits

Ask your plan before beginning care.

Some insurance products include out-of-network behavioral-health benefits, while others do not.

Contact the member-services number on your insurance card and ask whether outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication-management services are eligible for out-of-network reimbursement.

Wema can explain what payment documentation may be available, but reimbursement decisions are made entirely by your insurance plan.

Before Your First Visit

A clear four-step payment process.

1

Request a consultation

Tell us what type of psychiatric support you are seeking.

2

Review current fees

Wema explains the applicable private-pay fee before scheduling.

3

Ask your insurer

Check whether your plan provides any out-of-network reimbursement.

4

Make an informed decision

Schedule only after the payment expectations are clear to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about payment and coverage.

Does Wema accept insurance right now?

No. Wema currently accepts private payment only and is not yet contracted as an in-network provider with commercial insurance, Medicare, or MassHealth.

Are the plans listed above pending approval?

They are priority networks for future outreach and credentialing. A plan will be described as accepted only after all contracting, credentialing, enrollment, and effective-date requirements are complete.

Can I request reimbursement from my insurer?

You may ask your insurer whether your specific plan includes out-of-network behavioral-health benefits. Reimbursement is not guaranteed, and payment to Wema remains the patient’s responsibility.

Can insurance pay retroactively after Wema joins a network?

Network participation generally applies according to the carrier’s confirmed effective date and the member’s benefits. Wema cannot promise retroactive coverage or reimbursement.

How will I know when Wema accepts a plan?

This page will be updated after Wema receives written confirmation of participation and an official effective date. Patients should still verify benefits directly with their plan before each visit.

Ready to Discuss Care?

Begin with clear expectations from the start.

Contact Wema to discuss current private-pay availability, visit fees, and the next step toward psychiatric care.

Insurance participation is subject to carrier contracting, credentialing, product eligibility, and confirmed effective dates. Patients are responsible for verifying their own benefits. Wema Behavioral Health is an outpatient practice and is not an emergency or crisis service. For an emergency, call 911 or 988.
